Introduction

Mohammed Alotaibi joined the KAUST Photonics Laboratory as a Ph.D. Student. He holds an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Central Florida and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Umm Al-Qura University. Previous professional experience includes serving as an Instrument Engineer at Saudi Aramco, followed by academic appointments as a Teaching Assistant and Lecturer at Taibah University.

Research interests focus on semiconductor optoelectronics, integrated photonics, high-speed optical communication devices, and photonic technologies for energy and sustainability applications. Current research aims to advance the characterization and understanding of optoelectronic devices, with particular emphasis on semiconductor lasers, integrated photonic systems, and their applications in next-generation communication and sensing technologies.

Previous Work Experience

  • Instrument Engineer, Saudi Aramco (2010–2012)

  • Teaching Assistant and Lecturer, Taibah University (2012–Present)

Research Interests

Research interests focus on the characterization and nonlinear behavior of semiconductor optoelectronic devices and photonic systems. Areas of interest include device dynamics, modulation characteristics, performance optimization, and physics-based modeling, with applications in semiconductor lasers, optical wireless communication, and integrated photonics.
